First post

The front page of the April 30, 2007 New York Times. The photo front and center, full color, very large, is of Barack Obama, Democratic candidate for President of the United States. The accompanying article is about Obama's "search for his faith".

But what an amazing visual. Check it out in close up. What does it say to you? Does it say Obama IS religious? On first glance one might think so, as he appears very "preacherly" up there on the pulpit, appearing to orate. But look at the angle. It's skewed. The Times could have chosen an image that looked straight up if it wanted to project a truly reverant impression. Or a front and center head on shot if it simply wanted to illustrate the fact that Obama sometimes speaks in church.
